Avinavita
Avinavita — 'the life of the ancestors' — plunges you into a vibrant world where Mediterranean roots meet the echoes of modern rock: frenetic tarantella, swaying groove and Italian trance.
Biography
Naturally inspired by the traditional songs and music of Southern Italy, Avinavita has, since 2019, carried this precious heritage with heart. From Calabrian tarantellas to Puglia's pizzica pizzica and Naples' tammurriata, the band draws audiences into a colourful, popular, warm-hearted celebration where dancing is an integral part of tradition.
Vocals, tamburello, chitarra battente, accordion and mandolin give the repertoire its original harmonies, carried by a generous rhythm section with a rock breath and a swaying groove. The quartet — Alexandre Vincent, Antoine Pillemy, Joris Frère and Adrien Gayraud, a bass player of Calabrian origin who brought new energy to the band — catapults into the 21st century a music built on the fusion of modernity and songs played at ceremonies since time immemorial.
The debut album Caru Paisi, released in 2023, is a musical diary of Naples' backstreets, releasing all the Mediterranean flavours of the Boot. On stage, sometimes joined by a pizzica dancer, Avinavita turns every concert into a celebration: after long tours across France and Europe, the band keeps heading for the warm lands of the South.
