Biography

Biôwa (La Destinée) Biôwa, la destinée is an original creation built between live music and comics. Cartoonist Fabien Toulmé and BIM — Benin International Musical invite audiences on a journey through contemporary Benin, a land of age-old traditions firmly rooted in modernity. An immersive show for all audiences, produced in collaboration with Togezer Production, to be experienced as a family.

The story follows Ayedou, a young man dreaming of becoming a singer. But a tragedy upends his destiny, forcing him to confront the weight of tradition and the power of dreams. Between chosen paths and imposed decisions, Biôwa questions everyone's place in front of their own road — while Fabien Toulmé's drawings come to life on screen and BIM's musicians carry the tale with their voices, percussion, guitar and bass.

Around BIM's five musicians (Jimmy Bellah, Brigitte Amessiamey, Emile Totin, Babatoundé Boni Obinti and Yaovi Emmanuel Atcho), the creation brings together Jérôme Ettinger and Jed Robin as artistic directors, Axel Vanlerberghe on video design and Karl Archambaud on lighting, with support from partners including the Institut Français de Cotonou, ACCR, Les Dominicains de Haute Alsace, SACEM and SPEDIDAM.

Milestones

A comic-concert creation by BIM and Fabien Toulmé, in collaboration with Togezer Production and supported by the Institut Français de Cotonou, ACCR, Les Dominicains de Haute Alsace, the City of Saint Brévin, MIXT, SACEM, SPEDIDAM and Sud-Est Théâtre. The show is announced on tour in spring 2027 and for the 2027-2028 season.
