Biography
Cie La Dérouillée presents “Lonely Sweety”, a one-woman show written, directed and performed by Mathilde Cherbuin. Sweety is a social-media star, the empress of vlogs, the queen of influencers, ready to do anything for her followers and above all for their thumbs up: she sells connected gadgets and does yoga wrapped in cling film to lower her BMI. But between body-shaming and bulimic crises, her idealised life starts to crack.
“Lonely Sweety” is a theatrical statement on the digital age and body-image disorders. With plenty of dark humour but also sensitivity, this striking, moving show questions the place of digital objects in our daily lives, our loneliness and our relationship to norms. A lucid, funny and deeply human one-woman show, performed in the street as well as indoors, and accompanied, whenever possible, by discussions with the audience.
The show runs 55 minutes and is recommended from age 10; it lends itself particularly well to school performances and outreach workshops. It was developed in residence and supported notably by Le Nid de Poule, Alpes Concerts, Cie Soul Canopy and the Collectif À Moi Tout Seul, with artistic support from Boris Vigneron and Paul Lesty, and administration by La Fabrique Jaspir / Jaspir Prod.
