Classic Béton
Four virtuosos of the concrete jungle revisit the great classical tunes, infusing them with an irresistible, furiously danceable groove. Founded in 2022, this pocket fanfare brings classical music into the street, within everyone's sight and hearing.
Biography
Founded in 2022, Classic Béton is a pocket fanfare that quickly learned to surprise and unite audiences around a simple idea: bringing classical music into the street. Often perceived as hard to access, so-called classical music remains deeply rooted in popular culture: used in film and advertising, heard at school or hummed by those around us, many of its melodies are familiar even when we cannot name them or date them.
The repertoire is vast: from Guillaume de Machaut in the 14th century to Lili Boulanger in the 20th, via Claude Debussy, Johann Sebastian Bach, Igor Stravinsky and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Classic Béton awakens the collective memory of this musical heritage. The arrangements claim an eclectic aesthetic, nourished by hip-hop, Afrobeat, Balkan and Afro-Cuban influences: played freely and without inhibition, the quartet's music blends classical heritage, jazz and world influences, and rock'n'roll energy.
This all-terrain quartet — Tom Chagnard on soprano saxophone, Axel Pfalzgraf on bass saxophone, Pierre Patou and Félix Bleuse on percussion — loves poetic walkabouts as much as festive concerts. Between the elegance of the melodies, the power of the grooves and a playful reclaiming of the great themes, Classic Béton offers a show that is invigorating, inventive and unifying. Its album “Du classique sur du béton” was released in October 2026, featuring Mozart's Lacrimosa and Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights, among others.
