Danys
Blue sky, warm sand between the toes, a light breeze: Danys takes us into the inner swells of a young father learning to surf his emotions. Folk guitar, looper and self-deprecating humour: his first EP “Panacées” unfolds a contemporary chanson in reggae and pop colours.
Biography
At 17, Danys formed his first reggae band, Lion Vibration, with friends in Tahiti, singing and playing guitar; the band went on to share the bill with Pierpoljak, Neg Marrons and Tonton David. Back in mainland France, he joined Mad A Skank as singer, before going solo under the name “Hilyle” on the Lyon reggae scene. Meeting the young musicians of Wailing Trees, he chose to put his own music career on hold to become their tour manager and manager — a fine adventure lasting 12 years, ending with a farewell tour in January 2024.
Today, Danys takes us into the inner swells of a young father learning to surf his emotions. His first EP, “Panacées”, rises gently, with humour and self-deprecation, above the rollercoaster of parenthood. The songs are born guitar-and-voice, simple and sincere, then dressed in modern arrangements by Maugan “Smogy” Kenwards: guitar shifting between hip-hop groove, jazz, folk and outright reggae, a solid urban beat, enveloping piano and a round, mellow bass — a sound cocoon that is pop, warm and punchy at once.
The first single, “Bébés Rois”, released on 23 June 2025, opened this new adventure: specialist press praised a track that is “fun, well produced, and speaks volumes to every parent who knows short nights and surprise nappies” (Volting Radio). On stage, with his folk and electric guitars and a looper, Danys performs solo in this world between reggae, pop and contemporary chanson; in November 2026, he presents “Panacées” opening for Broussaï at Le Triolet in Tignieu-Jameyzieu, in the Balcons du Dauphiné cultural programme.
