The nyatiti of Luo country — Kenya's “Anglo-Ohangla”
Biography
A Kenyan singer from Luo country, in the Kisumu region, Makadem plays the nyatiti — the traditional Luo lyre —, the kalimba and the guitar. He forged his own style, “Anglo-Ohangla”, marrying ohangla tradition with contemporary sounds. His album “Koko Rio”, produced and executive-produced by Carolina Vallejo, was released on One World Records in 2015 and was nominated at the AFRIMA, according to the label.
