Biography
Born in Goa, India, in 1992, Tracy de Sá spent her early childhood in Portugal and grew up in Spain before settling in France in 2011, in Lyon, where she earned a master's degree in gender studies. A hip-hop dancer first — battles and freestyle in the early 2000s — she moved to rap in 2013 with a sharp technique and rapid-fire flow inspired by 1990s rap, performing in English, Spanish and French. Her first mixtape, Alpha Female, came out in 2014; in 2018 she was selected for the iNOUïS of the Printemps de Bourges springboard and signed with the independent label Ovastand.
Her studio albums map out an unapologetically feminist body of work on female empowerment, reclaiming one's body and freedom: Commotion (2019), In Power (2021), the EP Stay In Power (2022) and III (2024), an album built in three languages around the symbolism of the number three. Founder of the Pussy Club and the Pussy Talks interviews, she also mentors artists through the Woman Metronum Academy.
In 2022 she joined forces with Bordeaux soul band Shaolin Temple Defenders to create Tracy de Sá & The Defenders: Tracy and Brother Lion form an impetuous duo of explosiveness and melodic softness, while DJ Nejo stitches both worlds together with electro sounds. A heavy, modern sound, an organic groove and an unstoppable flow — a collaboration by Ovastand and Jaspir Prod, already seen at the Fête de l'Humanité, the Aucard de Tours festival, Chauffer dans la Noirceur, Rencontres et Racines and the Fusion Festival, and on tour in 2026 with new songs.
