Meltdown 2027: FKA twigs takes the helm in London
The world's longest-running artist-curated festival changes hands: for its 32nd edition, from 10 to 20 June 2027 at London's Southbank Centre, Meltdown will be designed by FKA twigs — who will also headline it.
A festival signed by an artist
Since 1993, Meltdown has handed its programme each year to a single artist, free to compose the festival of their dreams. David Bowie, Patti Smith, Grace Jones, Yoko Ono, Nile Rodgers, M.I.A., Little Simz and, in 2026, Harry Styles have all taken the role. FKA twigs becomes the 32nd curator in that rare line.
'Everything that raised me'
'I am honoured and excited to be curating Meltdown,' said the singer, dancer and visual artist, raised in Croydon, south London. She promises 'a slice of all that has raised me and continues to inspire me', and will deliver a landmark headline performance. The artists in her curation will be announced in the spring. New for 2027: Hometown Meltdown, a sister series taking the festival's spirit to grassroots venues in six UK cities, from December 2026 to March 2027.
