Afroto, by his real name Ahmed Mohamed Abdelmagied, is a rapper and author from Alexandria. He starts with the beatbox, listening to the rappers of his generation, before writing and recording in 2016 his first single, "Ahmed Ala Esm Geddi", which points out on the Egyptian rap scene.

He has been following with titles that have become classics of the new Egyptian wave — "Far2 Khebra", "Msh Bel 7ozoz", "7ala" or "Brazil", in collaboration with Marwan Moussa — and projects such as the EP "San Stefano", named after his quarter of Alexandria, and "Belad". His style mixes hip-hop, trap and sounds proper Egyptian, from shaabi to mahraganat, which he defends as the future of the local scene.

In 2024, Afroto went on a European tour in May, with dates in Vienna, London, Paris, Milan and Berlin, and published "Afdal Aghani 2024", his first album, recorded in its entirety "on the microphone" after a five-month break, between Brazilian funk, shaabi-trap and ballads. He was also featured by Coke Studio for a solo session around his title "7ALA".
