Ami Yèrèwolo
First Malian rapper, Ami Yèrèwolo opened the way for women in the hip-hop industry in Mali and founded the festival "Mali has rappers".
Ami Yèrèwolo, born in 1991 and originally from Mahina, is presented as Mali's first rapper. After studying finance and accounting, she chose music in 2013 and was noticed in the balani shows in Bamako, in a hip-hop universe that was then very masculine. Her first album, Birth, appeared in 2014.
In 2017, she finished second in the RFI Discovery Prize and created the festival "Le Mali a des rappées", Mali's first entirely feminine festival, dedicated to the visibility of women's hip-hop artists. Her second album, Mon Combat, was released in 2018 on her Denfari Events label.
Marked at the Show Me festival in Zurich in 2020, she signed with Othantiq AA, Blick Bassy's record company, and released the album AY in 2021, where mandingues instruments — kora, ngoni, yabara — met trap, club and Afrobeats. She was the patron of the EM Fest 2024 in Essonne and selected at the MASA 2026 in Abidjan.
