Born in Port Said in 1961, Amr Diab, nicknamed "El Hadaba" (the Plateau), is the biggest star of Arab pop: four decades of tubes that have made the whole Arab world dance and far beyond.
Amr Diab was born on October 11, 1961 in Port Said, in a music family: his father sang and encouraged him from childhood. After studying Arabic music in Cairo, he started his career in the mid-1980s and quickly imposed a new sound, "Mediterranean music", which blended oriental melodies, western rhythmic rhythms and electronic arrangements.
Success is linked: "Tamally Maak" (2000) becomes a classic reprinted worldwide, and his albums are sold by millions. He is the most rewarded Middle East artist at the World Music Awards and holds a Guinness record for the number of awards won by an artist from the region.
Every summer, his giant concerts — from El Alamein to Aqaba — are events, and he continues to publish new titles at a regular pace, such as his lyric videos of 2026. Amr Diab remains, generation after generation, the soundtrack of the Arab world's festivals.
