Aṣa
Lagos' folk-soul voice formed in Paris — Singer and composer — folk, soul, pop
Biographie
Bukola Elemide, known as Aṣa, was born in Paris in 1982 and raised in Lagos. Her bilingual folk-soul, between acoustic guitar and Yoruba melodies, broke through in 2007 with the album Aṣa (Asha) and the song 'Jailer'; the 2008 Prix Constantin established her in France. Beautiful Imperfection, Bed of Stone, Lucid and V (2022) followed. In 2019, she headlined the 25th Koroga Festival in Nairobi, whose full concert Capital FM filmed.
