Emeka Akumefule, known as Blaqbonez, was born on 29 January 1996 in an igbo family in the State of Imo (Nigeria) and grew up between Yoruba and Urhobo cultures. A student in computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, he discovered rap at 13 years old and won in 2012 the Zombie Competition of Terry Tha Rapman, ahead of more than 3,000 rappers.

Signed at Chocolate City, he released the album Bad Boy Blaq (2018), hailed among the best Nigerian records of the year, then Sex Over Love (2021), worn by "Bling" with Amaarae and BNXN. His sense of self-promotion and his humorous videos make him a figure apart from the Lagos scene.

Young Preacher (2022), launched by viral "Back in Uni", won him the best rap album prize at Headies 2023. After Emeka Must Shine (2023) and the success "Like Ice Spice", he released his fourth album, No Excuses, on October 17, 2025, with Phyno, Olamide, AJ Tracey and Young Jonn.
