Daby Touré was born in 1972 in Mauritania, in the region of Boutilimit, and grew up between Mauritania and Senegal, in a family of musicians: his father Hamidou played with Touré Kunda, the pioneer group of his uncles. In 1989, he joined Paris, where he formed the Touré Touré duo with his cousin Omar.

His first solo album, "Diam" (2004), was released by Real World, the Peter Gabriel label, and revealed it to the international public. Following "Stereo Spirit" (2007), the EP "Call My Name" with the bluesman Skip McDonald (2009), " Lang(u)age" (2012) and "Amonafi" (2015, Cumbancha), where his clear voice carries texts in Wolof, Soninke, pulaar, French and English.

Based in Montreal, Daby Touré released the singles "Leki" (2024) and "Kunta" (2025), the first excerpt from a sixth album released on stage at the Ministry in October 2025. He was announced at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on May 30, 2026, faithful to his art of connecting the banks of the Senegal River with scenes from around the world.
