Co-founder of Positive Black Soul, Didier Awadi is the father of rap galsen: thirty years of stage, a legendary studio in Dakar and a speech that crosses Africa.
Didier Awadi, with Duggy Tee, is the founder of the Positive Black Soul group in Dakar. Together, they invent Senegalese hip-hop and make it travel on stage around the world.
In solo from 2002, he continued the albums — Kaddu Gor, Un autres monde est possible, Sunugaal, Presidents of Africa, Made in Africa — and became the most visible figure of the French-speaking rap of West Africa.
The following distinctions were made: RFI World Music Award in 2003, best African rapper at the Tamani Awards in 2004, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2005.
In Dakar, his Studio Sankara became a hip-hop house: label, recording studio and rehearsal place for young talents in Senegal.
In 2026, he was present in concert at the MASA in Abidjan with RFI, and then as a guest of the Kajeem Convocation concert at the Palais de la Culture: the pioneer remained at the heart of the Pan-African festival.
