Himra
The "new boss" of the ivory rap: born in Cocody, Himra has made the drill a flag for the youth of Abidjan — "Young & Rich" certified diamond in Ivory Coast, "Number One" gold single in France.
Abdul Rahim Bakayoko, said Himra, was born on 28 May 1998 in Cocody, Abidjan. He made his first steps in the SBS group, trained with school friends, fed with coupé-décalé, American hip-hop and DJ Arafat's legacy, before starting solo in 2015 and signing at Def Jam Recordings Africa.
After "Omega" (2018) and the EP "Ivorie Drill King" (2021), he imposed a drill and trap style in nouchi, the language of Abidjan's street. His mixtapes "1X" and "IDK2" (2023) were gold certified in Ivory Coast, and RFI presented it in December 2024 as "the king of the ivory drill".
The album "Young & Riche" (25 July 2034) was certified gold, then platinum, then diamond in Côte d'Ivoire in less than a year — a record. In 2025, he won the PRIMUD d'Or, the Kundé and the Headies of the best artist in West Africa; "Number One" with Minz became a gold single in France (SNEP, January 2006). His concert at the Parc des Expositions d'Abidjan in December 2024 gathered some 40,000 spectators.
