Jayda Guy, known as Jayda G, was born and raised in the small town of Grand Forks, British Columbia, about six hours from Vancouver, surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers and lakes — an environment that gave her early interest in biology and the natural world.
Her DJ career started in Vancouver: she moved to Vancouver in 2013 for a Master's in Resource and Environmental Management, discovered the local electronic scene and co-founded the Freakout Cult label with DJ Fett Burger in 2015; her first solo projects appeared in 2016 (Jaydaisms).
In 2018, she completed her master's degree in resource and environmental management, specialized in environmental toxicology (effects of human activity on Salish Sea Orcas in Vancouver), the same year she completed her first album; Meaning Changes appeared at Ninja Tune in March 2019.
