Joeboy
Discovered by Mr. Eazi at emPawa Africa, Joeboy has become one of the most popular sweet voices of the atropop, from "Baby" to "Sip (Alcohol)".
Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, Joeboy, was born on May 21, 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2017, Mr. Eazi identified him with Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" published on Instagram and welcomed him into his emPawa Africa program, a springboard of the new Afrobeats generation.
His single "Baby" (March 1, 2019) pushed him into the forefront, followed by "Beginning" and the collaboration "Nobody" with DJ Neptune and Mr Eazi (2020). In 2021, "Sip (Alcohol)" became one of the biggest African beats of the year, leading Apple Music rankings in 17 countries, and was featured on his album Body & Soul (2023).
In 2024 Joeboy opened a new chapter by founding his own label, Young Legend, in partnership with Warner Music Africa, in Lagos. His third album, Viva Lavida, was released on March 28, 2025, with Qing Madi and Olamide as guests.
