Born in Oran in 1960, Khaled is the "king of the rai": from "Didi" to "Aisha" and "C'est la vie", his smiling voice has brought Algerian music into the homes of the world.
Khaled Hadj Ibrahim was born on 29 February 1960 in Oran, the cradle of the Rai. He was a teenager, recording his first titles under the name Cheb Khaled and modernising the Rai by opening it to pop, reggae and electronics. He was established in France in 1986 and built an international career there.
In 1992, "Didi" became a planetary tube; in 1996, "Aïcha", written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, devoted it to France and well beyond. In 1998, the concert "1, 2, 3 Soleils" in Bercy, with Rachid Taha and Faudel, remained a legendary moment in Maghreb music. In 2012, "C'est la vie", produced by RedOne, revived its success story with a new generation.
Khaled continues to record and perform worldwide, multiplying collaborations — Santana, Chawki, Rodge — and remains the most famous ambassador of the rai, this festive music born in Oran.
