Biographie
Kibrom Birhane is an Ethiopian pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, trained in Krar from the age of 8 and in Orthodox singing, then at the Mekane Yesus School of Jazz in Addis Ababa before a scholarship at Los Angeles College of Music. His first album, *Kibrom's Tizita* (2014), explores Ethiopian heritage through folk and jazz-frame pop; follow *Time For Everything* (2016) and *Here And There* (2022), hailed by All About Jazz as a successful ethio-jazz record.
A member of the Ethio-Cali collective and pianist of Meklit's group — notably on the project "Ethio Blue" presented in 2024 — he published his fourth album, *Lisané Bahir*, where Ethiopian modes (tizita, anchihoye, bati, ambassel) met with modular synthesizers, chronized by The Quietus. He collaborated with artists such as Dan Wilson, K'Naan, Meklit Hadero and Quantic.
