Kunmie, by his real name Oluwabukunmi Ariyibi Peter, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter based in Lagos. He writes first for others: "Arike", originally composed for Oxlade, becomes, on the advice of the latter, his own first single.

Published on February 15, 2025, "Arike" explodes on TikTok, where more than 186,000 videos resume the title: number one in Nigeria for three weeks, 2nd of Spotify Global Viral Chart, more than 60 million tunes. His EP "Before We Became Strangers" (March 2025) unfolds a romantic narrative in four songs, hailed by The Guardian Nigeria.

The remix of "Arike" with Simi and Mabel, followed by the singles "Sanity", "Solace II" with Joeboy, "Julie" and "Confessions" lead to his first album, "22", released in August 2026. Kunmie was named to AFRIMA 2026 and to the Headies for "Arike".
