L'Oiseau Rare
A phenomenon of Gabonese ntcham, L'Oiseau Rare has made all Africa dance with "Niamatos" and its more than ten million views, until it was the best artist in Central Africa at PRIMUD 2025.
The Rare Bird, by its real name Kourouma Ben Mohamed, is an adopted Gabonese artist, born to a Guinean father and a Togolese mother. He began his career in December 2020 and became the leading figure of the ntcham, the festive urban style of Libreville, at the crossroads of the afrobeat and dancehall. Music, which was his refuge in the difficult moments of his youth, became his passport.
He was productive and close to his audience, and published four albums and an EP in a few years — "Méli Mélo" (2021), "L'Année de God" and "Dix/10" (2023), "Afro-N-Tcham 1" (2024) — as well as collaborations with Shatta Wale ("Millions") and Didi B ("Chuaa"). On 21 December 2024, he officially received Gabonese nationality at a concert in Libreville.
In November 2024, his video "Niamatos" created a phenomenon: more than ten million views, mass covers and sharing of stars like Davido and Tenor. Sacred best artist from Central Africa at PRIMUD 2025 and named at AFRIMA 2025, he published "Afro-N-Tcham 2" on 13 February 2026.
