Born in Alexandria in 2005, Massar Egbari, a "mandatory detour", mix rock, jazz and oriental music with contagious energy.
Massar Egbari formed in Alexandria in 2005. His name, meaning "mandatory detour", sums up his philosophy: taking the crossroads. The group brings together Hani El Dakkak (guitar, singing), Ayman Massoud (claviers), Ahmed Hafez (bass), Tamer Attallah (battery) and Mahmoud Siam (guitar, arrived in 2008).
In 2011, UNESCO awarded him the title "Young Artist for Intercultural Dialogue" in Paris, and in 2014 he won the award for Best Band at the Middle East Music Awards. His discography ran from Read The News (2013) to Rise and Fall (2015), The Album (2018), Nos El Hagat (2022) and Mabaetsh Akhaf (2025).
On stage, Massar Egbari is a party: the band is filming in Egypt and Europe, from Berlin to Paris, and his songs — from "Fakra" to "Cerophobia" — are performed in choirs by several generations of fans.
