The nomadic voice of Cape Verde: from "Navega" to "reEncanto", it reinvents the morna between tradition and world pop.
Mayra Andrade grew up between Cape Verde, Senegal, Angola and Germany, following the assignments of her family, and formed as a self-taught artist. Revealed by her first album "Navega" (2006), she imposed a warm voice and a universe where morna and funaná met jazz, bossa nova and pop.
"Stória, Stória..." (2009), "Lovely Difficult" (2013) and "Manga" (2019), carried by "Afeto" and "Tan Kalakatan", expand its audience far beyond the archipelago. Located in Lisbon, she sings in Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, French and English, with an ease that makes her a natural ambassador of the Lusophony.
With "reEncanto" (2024), a live album and show recorded at the Union Chapel in London, she returns to the essentials: a voice, a guitar, and a repertoire revisited in the intimate, greeted from Lisbon to Avignon.
