Mercy Chinwo
From Port Harcourt to the continent's greatest gospel scenes, Mercy Chinwo carries a voice of praise that has travelled around the world with "Excess Love".
Mercy Chinwo, by its full name Mercy Nnenda Chinwo, is originally from Port Harcourt. She is known for winning the second season of Nigerian Idol in 2012, before fully devoting herself to gospel music.
Signed by EeZee Conceptz, she released her first album, "The Cross: My Gaze", which was written by "Excess Love", which became a classic of African praise — the video surpasses 140 million views. "Satisfied" (2020), with "Obinasom", confirms its status as a reference of the Nigerian gospel.
Together with her husband Blessed Uzochikwa, she founded the Grace and Truth Nation (GNT Nation), under which EP "Elevated" (2023), the album "Overwhelming Victory" (2024) — number one gospel on Apple Music — and then "In His Will" (2025), under which she was named Best Gospel Artist at Trace Awards 2025.
