Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary met in 1992 in the reunited Berlin and took the name Modeselektor in 1996, after a function of their Roland Space Echo. Their music broke the boundaries: techno, hip-hop, dubstep and bass music were hit, from Hello Mom! (2005) to Extended (2021). They also formed Moderat with Apparat. Their label, Monkeytown Records, founded in 2009, became one of the strong houses of Berlin electronics.
