Pape Diouf
A powerful voice from a griotte family in Sine-Saloum, Pope Diouf leads The Conscious Generation and makes Senegal dance, from leaving to Superman Love.
Pope Sheikh Diouf was born in 1973 in Dakar, in a griotte family from Sine-Saloum; music was a legacy passed on to him from childhood.
He was a classmate at Lemzo Diamono in 1995 and sang the success of Cocorico, before drawing his way as leader of the group La Génération Connaissant.
His solo breakthrough came with the album Partir (2012), carried by his mbalax cover of Con vous départò by Andrea Bocelli: the whole Senegal adopts his voice.
Youssou N'Dour himself has designated him as "the future of Senegalese music" — an adoubment that speaks of Pope Diouf's place in the musical landscape.
In 2023, he published the album Listen, carried by the single Superman Love; in October 2026, a concert in Madrid was announced, a new stage in his tours between Senegal and Europe.
