Biographie
Afropop group formed in Nairobi in 2005 by singers Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi, joined by guitarist Polycarp Otieno. Their first album, *Mwanzo*, appeared on 1 November 2008; followed notably *Sol Filosofia* (2011), *Live and Die in Afrika* (2015) and *Midnight Train* (2020). The band received distinctions at the Kisima Music Awards, the Channel O Music Video Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards and the BET Awards. Its four members were admitted as voting members of the Recording Academy (Grammys), class of 2023. Since 2023, the band has been taking a break and its members are pursuing solo projects, starting with Bien-Aimé Baraza.
This is the "major group" anchor of this wave: no Kenyan catalogue can do without it.
