2027-03 — A major North American tour in the spring of 2027. Sona Jobarteh returned to the conquest of the most beautiful scenes in North America: from Sony Hall in New York on 19 March 2027, to the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco on 10 April, her tour will be via Somerville, Rochester, Blacksburg, Richmond, Irvine, San Diego and Davis — kora in shoulder strap and smile.

2026-10-11 — Cultural Icon Award at Silicon Valley African Film Festival. On October 11, 2026, the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (17th edition, San Jose, California) presented Sona Jobarteh with its Cultural Icon Award, welcoming an artist who brings the Gambian and African culture to all stages of the world.

2015 — The Gambia Academy, its school for succession. Founded as a founder of the Gambia Academy, Sona Jobarteh has created an academy in Gambia dedicated to the education and transmission of Mandingue musical heritage: a 2.5 hectare campus designed to train the next generation of artists and guardians of the griotic tradition.
