Biographie
Teddy Afro, born on 14 July 1976 in Addis Ababa, son of singer and composer Kassahun Germamo and dancer Tilaye Arage, is considered one of the most important Ethiopian artists of all time. He began in 2001 with the album *Abugida*, followed by *Teddy* in 2002, then became a national figure with politically committed song "Yasteseryal" (2005); imprisoned in 2006, he was released in 2009 for good conduct. Following the acclaimed albums *Tikur Sew* (2012) and *Ethiopia* (2017), the latter ranked #1 of the Billboard World Albums.
After singles linked to Ethiopian news ("Demo Be Abay", 2020; "Armash", 2021; "Na'at", 2022), he signed his big return with *Etorika*, released on 16 April 2026 — his first studio album in nine years — launched via his YouTube channel and became, according to the industry observers quoted by the press, one of the largest digital launches in Ethiopian music history.
