Toumastine
Niamey Tuareg Group whose name means "my identity" in tamasheq, Toumastine makes the blues of the desert vibrate, from the DIY instruments from its beginnings to international scenes.
Toumastine is a Tuareg band formed in Niamey by young friends from different parts of the Sahara. Its name means "my identity" in tamasheq. At its beginning, the band makes its instruments with the means of the edge — car clutch cables as guitar strings — before forging its sound: a Saharan blues-rock sung in tamasheq.
The band released the album Assouf on November 19, 2021, which was released by the single "Hegh Tenerenin (In my desert)", whose official video appeared on its channel. His titles — "Awa Nihaney", "Aghregh Y'allah", "Ténéré" — circulated through its official website, Bandcamp page and live film sessions.
On stage, Toumastine defends the Touaregue culture well beyond Niger: the group performed at the Centre culturel franco-nigerien de Niamey, at the close of the International Slam and Ecology Festival, and took its blues from the desert on tour in Morocco in April 2026.
