Wendy Shay
From Accra to Stuttgart and back to Ghana, Wendy Shay became one of the major female voices of the atroropo — the Best Female Artist in Western Africa at AFRIMA 2025.
Wendy Asiamah Addo, known as Wendy Shay, was born on 20 February 1996 in Accra, Ghana. After her father's death, she grew up in Stuttgart, Germany, where she attended a music school and then a midwife training, a profession she practised before returning to Ghana for music.
In January 2018, she signed with RuffTown Records, Bullet's label. Her first single, "Uber Driver" (June 1, 2018), immediately became a success and over a million views in a month. She followed with "Bedroom Commando", "Astalavista" and the album Shay On You (2019), and won the Discovery of the Year Award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
With Shayning Star (2021) and EP Enigma (2022), she was one of Ghana's most popular female artists. Her title "Too Late" (2024) was a viral success in 2025, carried by the dance of young Tracy Shay, and earned her continental consecration to AFRIMA.
