72 Hours of the Book of Conakry
Book and literature · Conakry, Guinea
The festival
Since 2009, Conakry has opened his books in large numbers: the 72 Hours of the Book are THE Guinean literary rendezvous — book fair, debates, dedications, meetings of authors, formations and the Miss Literature contest. Organized by L'Harmattan Guinea, under the leadership of the General Delegate Sansy Kaba Diakité, the event is held at the Franco-Guinean Cultural Centre and around Lake Gbassikolo, with each year a Guinean country and a Guinean city invited to the event — Forécariah in 2026.
The 18th edition, from 23 to 25 April 2026, was entitled "Youth and digital: creativity, innovation and engagement" — in the city that UNESCO had designated World Book Capital in 2017.
Good to know
Conakry was designated World Book Capital by UNESCO in 2017, and then admitted to UNESCO's Creative Literature Cities network.
