The festival
In Aswan, the door of Nubia, cinema is getting on with women. Created in 2017, the Aswan International Women Film Festival (AIWFF) is the first Egyptian film festival dedicated to women's issues and filmmakers, with an emphasis on Egypt and the MENA region. Projections, meetings and training workshops for young people from the South of the country make up an event where films bring the successes, struggles and dreams of women.
The first edition was held from February 20 to 26, 2017, just days from sunrise on Ramses II's face in Abu Simbel.
