Luanda Carnival

The festival

On the Nova Marginal in Luanda, facing the ocean, the Carnival is spreading its parades of groups in brilliant costumes, to the sound of semba and traditional Angolan dances such as dizanda and cabecinha. During three days of competition, the carnival groups of the capital — and the provinces — appear in front of a jury and a crowd in a lily, at the country's largest popular festival.

Back in strength in 2023 after the pause of the pandemic, the Luanda Entrudo is a concentrate of Angolan colours, percussion and pride. Carnival 2027 will be held around Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 16, 2027.
