Carnaval del País
Carnaval · Gualeguaychú, Argentine
The festival
The largest carnival in Argentina is not played in Buenos Aires or Corrientes, but in Gualeguaychú, a town in Entre Ríos near Uruguay. Every Saturday in January and February — as early as January 9, 2027 — there are more than 1,200 artists and 15 allegorical tanks in Corsódromo, which is pregnant with some 30,000 places inaugurated in 1997.
Five historical compares, including Marí-Marí and Papelitos, competed in a flood of feathers, glitters and batucadas, with special evenings on the weekend of the Carnival. Months of sewing and welding in the club workshops for a few nights of glory: Carnival del País is the cultural and tourist engine of the entire Littoral region.
