CBC Music Festival
CBC Music Festival · Toronto, Canada
The festival
CBC Music Festival is the Canadian public broadcaster's festival, organized by CBC Music (with Live Nation): a great day of open-air Canadian music, showcase of the artists that CBC Music radio and platform accompany all year round — the revelations of the Searchlight contest are alongside the country's leading poster artists.
The first edition is held on May 25, 2013 in Echo Beach, Ontario Place, Toronto, on the shores of Lake Ontario. The festival then returns to Toronto every spring — with a getaway to Deer Lake Park, Burnaby, British Columbia, in 2014 — and shows the best of Canadian rock, indie, hip-hop and electro scenes: Arkells, Half Moon Run, Patrick Watson, Tanya Tagaq, Serena Ryder, Walk Off The Earth...
The 2020 edition, scheduled for May 30, 2020 at RBC Echo Beach, is cancelled due to the VOCID-19 pandemic, and the festival has not been renewed since. Its recordings, filmed by CBC Music, keep its memory alive: the full concert of A Tribe Called Red — now The Halluci Nation, pioneers of the powwow-step — is one of the most beautiful testimonies, to be found in our media library.
