The festival
The Indian Desert is bursting with music and monumental art, between palm trees and a big wheel. Created in 1999 by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen, organized by Goldvoyance (AEG Presents group), the most influential music festival in the United States is in two three-day weekends with identical programming — a format in place since 2012 — in front of 125,000 festivalgoers a day, the maximum capacity of the site set by the city of Indio.
The art installations and monumental sculptures make Coachella an open-air museum as well as a festival. In 2026, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G held the headlines; the 2027 one remains, for the moment, the best kept secret of the planet festivals.
