The festival

In Yaoundé, Écrans Noirs is the major event of the Central African cinema, founded in 1997 by filmmaker Bassek Ba Kobhio. The festival projects long and short films, documentaries and series, awards the Golden Screen, and gives life to a film market, an international symposium and a village of the festival open to the public. Its 30th edition, under the theme "Black Screens, 30 years: cinema, our weapon of peace", is announced from November 21 to 28, 2026, with a tribute to its founder, who died in May 2026.

One room after another, it is a whole continent that tells itself in images.
