The festival

In Bujumbura, on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, FESTICAB is beating the heart of Burundian and East African cinema. Created in 2009 by director Léonce Ngabo, the Burundi International Film and Audiovisual Festival competes with Burundian, East African and international films, and has seen the birth of the East African Film Network.

Still active in 2026 — he co-organized Chinese Film Week in Bujumbura — FESTICAB remains the great festival of images of a country where every film projected is a window open to the world.
