Costumbrista Chilote Festival

The festival
Chiloé, an archipelago of rain, wood and legends in southern Chile, has its festival of traditions: the Festival Costumbrista Chilote de Castro. Its 45th edition was held on 21 and 22 February 2026 — the third weekend in February — at the Municipal Parque Mario Uribe Velásquez, paired with the 23rd Feria de la Biodiversidad.
Organised by the vecinos juntas with the municipality, the festival aligns more than 120 modules of craftsmanship and gastronomy: one tastes the curanto cooked in a hole in the ground, the milcao of potatoes, the chochoca and the licor de oro, between traditional chilot music and dances. It is the highlight of the fiestas Costumbristas calendar that the municipalities of the archipelago take over all summer.
