The festival

In Tamanrasset, in the heart of the Haggar, the International Festival of the Arts of Haggar — also known as the Abalessa-Tin Hinan festival — makes the culture of the Tahagar resonate in the camp of the festival. It is heard the imzad, the emblematic female instrument of the Great South, and the tinded, it crosses parades of folk troops, crafts, tales and poetry of the desert.

It is a festival of transmission: to enhance the material and intangible heritage of the Haggar and pass it to the younger generations, opening the stage to the cultures of the countries neighbouring the Sahara.

Good to know

Institutionalized in 2009 by the Algerian Ministry of Culture.
