The festival

On the beach of Baía das Gatas, in the north-east of São Vicente, the festival of the same name is the biggest musical event in Cape Verde. Since 1984, it has been held every year during a full moon weekend in August: open-air concerts facing the bay, reuniting with the diaspora and nights of music under the stars. Cape Verdean artists and international guests share the scene, in the spirit of morabeza, Creole hospitality. It is the feast of an entire archipelago, their feet in the sand.
