The festival
Rouyn-Noranda, early September: intimate rooms, unlikely venues, hidden concerts — and the succession that plays as if tomorrow did not exist. Created in 2003 in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and co-founded by Sandy Boutin, Karine Berthiaume and Jenny Thibault, the Festival de musique émergente (FME) has become the laboratory for musical discovery in Quebec: we see the talents of tomorrow before everyone else.
Its 24th edition, from September 3 to 6, 2026 — the year of the centenary of Rouyn-Noranda — brought together more than 80 artists on about fifteen stages during four days of festivities: concerts, 5 to 7 and surprises all over the city. Micro-festival of reference, member of REFRAIN, the FME transforms every year Rouyn-Noranda into the capital of discovery, on the weekend of the Fête du travail.
