The festival

The Festival des citas du patrimoine is a travelling festival: it is made every year between the four old caravan cities of Mauritania — Chinguetti, Ouadane, Tichitt and Oualata — classified as UNESCO World Heritage. The 14th edition was held in Ouadane in December 2025, with its scientific, intellectual and artisanal heritage fair, and its competitions of Koran, poetry, camel races and horses.

In the time of an edition, the host city becomes a crossroads of manuscripts, knowledge and festivals, and receives concrete development projects. A celebration that brings the old stones of the desert to life, one city after another.
