Baba Village International Festival
The village brought to the city · Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
The festival
Created in 2018 by the artist Floby (Noom Naaba) — a musician and customary chief — and organized by the Association WEEDO, the Baba Village International Festival has a simple, powerful concept: the village brought to the city. For four days, Ouagadougou becomes a Burkinabè village again: traditional music and dance, storytelling, local cuisine — including training in culinary art —, joking kinship, mask dances and intergenerational debates.
The 9th edition runs from 12 to 15 November 2026 at the Terrain des Léopards, in the Saint-Camille district (Dagnoen). The organizer announces over 150 artists and more than 50,000 expected visitors.
On the programme for the 9th edition
Day 1 — Thursday 12 November: opening ceremony (6 p.m.), traditional blessings, traditional tales, live concerts.
Day 2 — Friday 13 November: traditional cuisine, cultural symbols, traditional instruments, intergenerational debates, live concert.
Day 3 — Saturday 14 November: children's village, youth slam, instrument initiation, public conference, emerging stage, live concert.
Day 4 — Sunday 15 November: interreligious mass, closing rituals, mask dance, and Floby's grand concert in the evening.
