Ghadamès International Festival

The festival

In Ghadamès, an old oasis from the west of Libya to the gates of the Sahara, the festival celebrates the traditions of the Tuaregs and the desert people. For three days, the harvest of dates sets the tone: the old town is transformed into a large market, while horse and camel races are taking place in the outskirts of the ramparts. Touaregs, Arabs and Berbers meet there to feast, sing and dance, in a festival of Saharan cultures where crafts and folk shows hold the first place.
