The festival
Born in 1987 in downtown Lafayette, the Festival International de Louisiane is a great free gathering — no ticket is required — that brings French-language and world music together, in the heart of Cajun Acadiana. More than 300,000 visitors flock to it every spring. In 2023, Gambian kora player Sona Jobarteh was on the bill of that edition (April 26–30).
