The festival
The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), founded in 1993, is the largest film festival in Asia and the only Chinese category "A" festival of FIFG — a status it retained during the recast of accreditation 2026. Its 28th edition, from 12 to 21 June 2026, broke records: about 4,100 films submitted from 125 countries and regions, including first applications from Ghana and Mozambique, and more than 420 films screened in more than 1,500 screenings.
The Golden Calice (Golden Goblet) awards are held in five competitions: main competition, new Asian talent, documentary, animation and short film, with a special feature: 82% of the films eligible for the competition were world premieres. The jury of the main competition was chaired by Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai, surrounded by Tunisian producer Dora Bouchoucha and Georgian filmmaker Déa Kulumbegashvili.
The opening film was Keane Wong's Afterpiece and Zhang Disha's Closing Moment The Decisive Moment. The SIFF Project, a project market for Chinese-language filmmakers, was held from June 13 to 16.
