The festival
At the full moon of October, Siwa's oasis climbs to Dakrour Mount for three days of celebration. Siyaha marks the end of the date harvest and honours the saint of the city, Sidi Sulayman: men gather on the mountain to eat together, sing songs of gratitude and reconcile, while women celebrate in the village, between dances, songs and drums.
Everyone cooperates with the common meal — the rice, bread and meat fattah — bought collectively and shared only when the call announces that we can start together. Also called the Feast of Reconciliation, it is the great meeting of peace and unity of Siwa.
